Turn Your Voice Into The New Game.

One thing that would make the create-a-character system feel more complete to me would be the ability to export photos and screenshots of various parts of the game to an external storage device. I know this is probably impossible due to copyright and licensing issues (and quite a few other problems would result)... but I think it would be awesome to take pictures of my custom outfits / characters in various poses, or maybe even during a battle, and be able to transfer it as a JPEG to my computer somehow.

Just had to put that out there. I feel like our creative endeavors are trapped forever inside the game, lol.

--Edit--

I think you can probably do that if you just plug your ps3 video cable into your computer, right? IDK, I am not good with computer, but it makes sense.

It gets done somehow, as there are tons of user-made screenshots of SC4 online.
Yeah, but the quality is bad. I'm talking about adding something, a special tool or mode, that would let you take high-res still poses or action shots of your characters without lifebars or other data that are normally in the way. Extra camera angle options would be a plus, too.

First of all I apologize if there is already a thread for this, but as I am very limited on time I just created a new one. And if I misspell anything, as I've said I'm short on time, but I'll make sure I'm clear.

First: Expand the Stun theme
By expand I mean add stun qualities to more (if not most) of the moves for each character, and let them chain off of each other. I.e. Many Mitsurgi combos such as :6::6::A: to :3::A:. To balance this out a bit and have it be more exciting to watch, which I think is very important, have each successful hit speed up while lowering the damage dealt (encouraging devastating moves to finish the combo). This should appeal to casual gamers mechanically and non gamers visually while testing the player's timing on a combo. To keep the spirit/individuality of the game, have certain moves only stun while in a combo. I.e. Mitsurgi's :4::K:, while used on a stunned opponent, it will keep the opponent stunned while pushing them a little further away (To avoid infinite loops) and on a non-stunned opponent it would work as it has always has before. To keep this from being to too cheap (stun, stun. stun, stun, Ringout) make it so stuns don't ring out (not mid combo anyway).

Second: Add an actual guard meter
Not the one that is in place currently, but one that can be seen winding down, with multiple bars in between (like the super bar from SF4 or Alpha), there are so many things you can do with that (I'll get to that in a minute). I think we would see more actual finishes or attempts if the player can actually see the guard meter, this would build up tension/anticipation for a crowd watching if they can see how close the person they are rooting for is to dying/winning.

Third: Bring back guard breaks from 2, and if possible keep the ones from 4
Easily enough, just have guard break moves from 4 delay into guard breaks from 2. To keep it balanced only the first one (non-delay) would destroy the guard meter, while the other actually breaks guard and opens them for a combo (hit or miss, either way). And have the one's from 2 actually take up your guard meter every time you attempt it adding a bit more of a "big risk, big reward" quality to the game (I'm not saying there isn't, I just feel this would add more).

Four: Get rid of "Just" moves
I feel like this actually turns casual players away because it's so demanding of some characters (I'm looking at you Setsuka) to unlock their full potential (Second move only executed if the first move is a "Just").

Five: Anthology or Tag
Think SC2 Raphael vs SC4 (pre-patch) Amy, similar to SF Anthology

Six: Remove the short moment after winning a match
The six seconds the winner has to mutilate the body of their downed opponent before the next match begins it just promoting bad sportsmanship online.

Seven: Other Franchise Characters as downloaded content
Having the other console specific character be available for download was a bit of a let down for me because we all saw it coming. I was hoping the people of Namco signed a longer contract with Lucasarts. I was hoping to see a new Star Wars character every quarter on one console or the other and have an end of the year bundle pack filled with characters from the other console. This way Soul Caliber would continue to get more characters, while Star Wars has another platform to advertise characters for their upcoming games. And if need be, omit the storyline for these extra characters because if it feels forced (no pun intended) I'd rather not see one at all. Or even have their costumes to available to download for custom creation.

Of course, this idea doesn't have to only be applied to Lucasarts...

I.e. Just to name a few:
  • Marvel/Wolverine (Claws) vs Taki or Voldo, Capt.America (Shield, no stranger to time travel...or crossovers) vs anybody
  • Ubisoft/Assassin's Creed (I'm sure we've all seen enough Altair/Ezio custom creations to assume this would be popular)
  • Monolith/Xenosaga-Shion(Shield Arm)/Ziggy(Robot)/Kos-Mos(Robot, plus seen her before, so not out of the question) vs. Yoshi(Part-Robot) or Momo(Little hammer) vs Astaroth(Large Custom Hammer)
  • Capcom/Zero(Robot with a bunch of weapons that come out of nowhere, that should be set to stances to balance him) vs Necrid (wannabe Zero lol j/k) or Megaman (Gun Arm) vs Algol(Two Gun Arms)
Seven: I know this sounds crazy, but I'd like to see them create a whole new storyline with new characters. Keep the move-sets and gameplay, but move forward with different characters and have their endings tell what happened to the characters we currently have and then have our characters be alternate (and just as customizable) "outfits" like Eddy was for Christina in Tekken at one point (As to not piss off veteran players). I'd love to see Yun-sung, Talim, Amy, Cassandra, and Bangoo be the hardened veterans in the quest for the swords.

Also, I know Amy is a vampire, but if she showed up as an adult version of herself, it would intrigue me to find out how or why. And if Raphael is missing, I'd be more inclined to play her storyline to see what happened. I think this would definitely tick a lot of veteran players off no matter how it would be executed, but the important thing is that it's a chance to draw in new players.

Species/Style Select

I main Lizardman and Taki. I am nuts about reptiles. I own a Green Anole and a Northern Blue Tongue Skink. I hate the fact that I have to play with my secondary fighting style (Which also happens to not be nearly complex as half the other characters in this series) just to play as the only reptile character. It doesn't matter to me if it makes no sense, just make a special game mode or something, where I can create custom characters with a unique species. It could be a Lizardman, Wolfman, Kangaroo, or any other carefully selected choices.

Either that or allow me to pick Lizardman, WITH THE FULL ARMOR SELECTION OPTIONS (the selection is pitiful in SCIV), and allow me to pick the weapon style. Imagine how cool it would be to see a lizard ninja. As he does all of Taki's flips, rolls, and warps, his tail would fly and twirl accordingly, and not to mention he's pretty damn big! The possibilities would be endless. Just take a moment to picture Lizardman with all of the other weapon styles. Flying, warping, and cartwheeling as Taki or Yoshimitsu, being a badass gravity defier with twin swords and a gun as Cervantes, beating the crap out of Bruce Lee with Maxi's kicks and jumps....the list goes on. Anyway, my point is this: Let players choose a default character and change their weapon style to another. Maybe their size could change to suit hitboxes so nothing could be abusable, like an Astaroth-Amy hybrid. I don't care if my lizardman would be turned into a midgit to use Talim or Amy, as long as I would be able to do it I would be happy. And, it would make him REALLY big as Astaroth.

Wave mode: Rapid-fire style fighting to be played in groups of 3 or more. Two players start the match with one round and one bar of health each, with no time limit. After one player wins, the next player spawns across the stage and continues the fight. There could be an option that could be disabled or modified to change how much health the victor recovers. Once the next winner is chosen, the cycle repeats until the host decides to end the game or until someone scores enough wins. If someone were to make a room with 5 spots and 3 were taken, two people might come in and be placed in the proper spot of the cycle once they select their character. Losers would have a short window to change their character for the next time they jump in.

I mainly want this so that, when playing people far less skilled than me, I don't have to spend more time in menus than I do playing. It would also be a riot for clan practices or get-togethers.

Team Battle: I'm sure this has been mentioned hundreds of times already, so i won't waste the reader's time elaborating yet again. Make it happen, please!

Saving Replays: There are so many reasons to want this. Assuming this would be implemented with youtube capabilities like Black Ops' theater mode:

Youtube documentaries about character combos, tricks, and maneuvers, could be linked on many websites for references,

Saving great matches to watch or share later,

Spreading the word about players that play in a negative way on purpose,

Doing an insane combo or tech-trap by accident and saving the film to learn it, so you can utilize it again whenever you want,

Recording funny and random glitches to show your friends, like a character ringing out then popping back to stage,

Endless possibilities. It would skyrocket the game's replay value.

Clan Symbol: Allow players to create an icon that will show by their name to signify that they belong to a clan. This will be appreciated for several reasons, assuming the creator of the emblem/icon would have to share or give the emblem to someone before they could use it:

It will help spread knowledge about your clan, and in turn help with recruiting.
People could play against your clanmates, and if the match is good it increases your clan's overall reputation.
If people keep playing people that play cheaply with the same icon, they will know to avoid that icon in future.
Clans can more easily find eachother and set up scrimmages.

A more in-depth story mode: When you takea look at it, the story modes for SCIV were pathetic. 5 missions each, almost all being exactly the same?

Custom Character options:

Age/Pitch/Mood voice options

In SCIV, the only options you have for custom character voices are 6 different voices with the option to change the pitch, which also screws with the voice speed. In SCV, this could be vastly improved and make custom character creation even more absorbing.

All of the options I would like to see would be:

Instead of a voice set with preset lines, let the player choose a Base Voice, then allow them to pick from a number of lines for each scenario, like

What does the voice say when:

The character wins with Perfect?

The time runs out and the character loses?

The character scores a Critical Finish? (If it makes a return in SCV)?

And so on. This way they could truly create their custom character's personality instead of fitting into a stale mold.

Age: Let the player toggle the Base Voice's age. If they want the character to be old, let them turn up the age meter to get the old man/woman sound. The same goes for younger customs, like maybe teenagers.

Pitch and Hoarse: Let the player change the pitch just like in SCIV, BUT do not make it alter the voice's speed. Make that a seperate option. Hoarseness of the character's voice could be changed to make the character even more unique, especially during laughter.

Mood: Let the player set their character's general personality, such as angry, lighthearted, or creepy. Set the age, pitch, and mood properly to come up with a creepy, cackling old man or a suave, level-headed ladies' man.

More faces: In SCIV, I almost always use Male Face 13 because it's only one of 3 that I don't think is completely ugly. The female characters in particular are getting jipped horribly with only 7 faces and over half of them witch-faces.

That's everything I can think of for now. I REALLY would like to use Lizardman with every style!
