Tricking, anyone?

can we just drop the macho social constructs and call it what it is...gymnastics?

it is pretty cool, but i can't get over the fact that tricking and free running are just *not really* manlier ways of saying gymnastics and jumping off of shit for no good reason.

"ok jimmy are you ready for gymnastics class?"

"mom...i'm 14, we call it tricking now"

"oh...and here i thought that meant picking up random people for paid sex..."

"yeah that is after gymnastics.."
 
While tricking has its roots in gymnastics, the particular sets of moves and postures lie in martial arts.


Edit: Freeruning = Parkour + tricking.
 
This is clearly an acrobatics class being attended mostly by Capoeiristas (Ginga is a tell-tale sign) though many clips form people that aren't in the acrobatics course have more of a wushu feel to them.

Call it what you want, it is fun to watch - look for old Lateef Crowder videos, that kid is sick.
