By pure nature, I am a competitive person. Strive hard and put alot of heart into things I enjoy.
My first venture into a true competitive situation was with the Pokemon Card Game. I build shittons upons shittons of decks over my years playing it. My pride and joy was my fucking "Cleaner" deck. Which I swapped out shitty cheap cards and grass pkmn for Electabuzz, Scyther, and fucking Erica's Dratini.(Nah I don't give 2 shits, you don't understand wtf Im talkin about mother fucker!) The whole game plan was to turtle with Buzz, Dratini, Scyther or Magmar til I could evolve Growlithe to a fucking Arcanine and give them 50 or 80 Damge to whine about. While at the same time, recycling the cards from the discard pile back into the deck.
That deck and game plan, got me 3rd place(1st day) then 2nd place(2nd day) in the regional event in Cincy Ohio. I Lost the 2nd day cause I ran out of cards to draw in my deck. FUCKING TURTLEING 120HP CHANSEY MOTHERFUCKER! >:( I qualified for the finals in New York...but I didn't get to go. Thanks mom.
But as far as games go...Gamejunkie was where I did 98% of my tournament action. SSBM, SC2, SC3, GGXX, Tekken 5, DOA4. Most of those being SC2 tourneys, out of state players *nod* came and beat the shit out of us, but its that they came back that surprized me. So best I could with what I had (read: Practice mode, SC fourm) I trained up best I could, and didn't get to actually test my efforts til tourney time. Best I did was 5th 2 times. Once before out of state players came to the party(with a Poking Maxi, copied from JD_OK) and the 2nd time was with a more stance based(thanks for the videos Spyder)when they were present. Unfortunately it kinda goes downhill from there.
Here's to hoping, eventually. SOMEHOW, I'll bounce into the SC tournament scene.(I would say bounce back, but was I REALLY ever there?)
