Tournament experience?

I honestly have no idea if this is being posted in the right forum. ._.

How many tournaments... competitive environments... have you placed yourself in?
Not just SC, but games in general.

I know experience doesn't just come out of the blue.
Even "overnight successes" usually aren't average joes, they had prior training and then happened to catch a break.

Since I just started playing seriously (with fighting games period) a couple of months ago, I have no idea about the people I talk with here (who a lot of have been here for a long time before me) and I would like to know.

It is sad to admit, that I have participated in over 600 tournaments offline, across 5 different countries, won about 70-ish and ran about 150 of them. Then I have played in about 40 online tournies, which are never great, save GuildWars which was extremely competitive.

I'm old though, that is my excuse.

My very first VG tournament was the Blockbuster Videogame Wold Championships in 92. I actually won my locals, won regionals, and lost in State finals... to a 9yr old asian kid who beat me by FOUR BANANAS in the tie breaker (DK Country on snes)! I won TMNT tourney fighters and NBA Jam, he won Clayfighter and DK Country, so then for the stupid tie breaker they make us play another DK level, and i lose by an excruciatingly small amount of bananas :( I think it was bias, as the judges chose the 'random' game for us to play for the breaker, he was obviously favored, I tried to mimic what he did and improve on it as I went, but he just knew DKC SLIGHTLY better than me. Forget the fact that I won my NBA Jam match by 30, destroyed him with Michelangelo in TMNT, lost by one HIT in Clayfighter... but they choose DK country the only game he clearly could beat me in. *holds grudge to this day* >:(

This was my first experience and it was so dramatic and exciting it put me on the path to competing in games, and I never looked back. I could probably write a book about my tourney adventures.

alas, tournies really teach you a lot about responding to, dealing with and adjusting to pressure in public enviroments, I encourage all to go to them, and don't take losses as anything but a learning tool for next time.

The first time I went competetive was for CGS. Though I did have fun at the same time for it because I ended up meeting a lot of great people. I placed top 2 on the females division [ I know what yall think about it :P ] on the first and second combine and when I was on a team in 07 it was even more fun that I got a chance to travel around and meet some more new people.
Then when I started playing SC4 I would go to casuals around my home town and get my ass beat, lol.
But at the same time it's a very good learning experience and I wish I could do it more but no car means no go.
I went to NEC last year and didn't really place very high, but I surely got to meet Hudathan [hooottt *0* ] and some other SC legends, plus it was my first time to go to the EC and I'm glad that my first time going there in my life was memorable,a lot of trees!!!!
I didn't get to talk to many but I sure hope that I can at Evo. :D

Over all,my tournament experiences have been great so far and cannot wait for more. ^_^

I've only been to two local tournaments, but i've won both of them.
I've been in 1 online tournament and lost by DQ due to lack of time. But, I just registered in my third one this monday and i'm going to be fighting on saturday, hopefully I can pull another win out and get the money for it. This one might be a little bit tougher, my buddy is in it and he's got a nasty habit of beating me with Astaroth.

Christ. I think I've been to about... eight or nine all-together now? Damn, Cha... That's... quite a lot.
