The Weight Loss Thread

damn shogun...your progress is straight up amazing.

i seem to have hit a brick wall. i dropped below 200 (again i'm 6'2") and got into my 34 inch jeans again, kept up my eating and bike riding habits, and now i'm back up to about 210 and the 34s are too tight for me :/. my weight seems to fluctuate kinda radically recently as well. like one day i'll be 205 and the next i'll be 212 and then back down to 200 all in one week. something tells me it isn't healthy lol. i think that by bike riding, i dumped all the fat that improving my leg/thigh muscles will permit, and now i'm gonna have to work out another part of my body to get more lean muscle mass if i wanna keep the weight under 200.

ugg this is turning into a lot of work. i was loving my "eat whatever i want before 9 pm, drink no soda and ride bike almost every day" routine. it was fun, easy, and it made me melt away. now i've hit a damn wall.

maybe i'll just pick up a crystal meth habit. :D

Yea you hit the pleateau effect Lobo, basically your body has gotten use to your routine. Now it's time to mix it up to continue the weight loss. I wouldn't change the diet too much, but just switch the exercises around some. Try mountain climbing, swimming, or other forms of cardio as something different from your regular routine.

And about the weight flucuating, nah don't worry about that, it's mostly just water weight leaving and returning. Even fitness guru Tony Horton says your body weight can flucuate 10 pounds high or low (depending on the person). I switch from 225, to 222, to 229 all in the same week also, so don't feel bad or nervous if it does have you feeling that way. Usually just let your clothes do the talking, and if they are getting tight on you, then it's time for a change. But a difference in cardio training should be ok for you though.

On a side note, and this relates sort to the same thing, but people get discouraged when they see their body weight change radically, that's why alot of coaches don't recommend checking the scale maybe every week or two.

Man, it's has been a while. Anyway, guys... This is the 3rd time since I started this thread that I see-saw'd. Last time I got down to 182 lbs. though (weighed June 19th); That was 4 months ago. Weighed myself two weeks ago and I was 197 lbs [all over again].

Well, I'm getting back on the horse only this time I actually joined a gym. I'm also making adjustments, more like lifestyle changes i.e. not eating after a certain time, eating 5-6 small meals two hours apart, and drinking a lot more water. Which I did do before, but got lazy with it. It was a recent run in that help motivate me.

He's an old acquaintance of mine from a past employer. He informed me he did what I mentioned for 3 years and has lost 128lbs! I almost didn't recognize him. We caught up and he just told me it wasn't any "diet" and that he just became more selective, continues to practice self-control with what foods he eats, and that he works out 3 days a week for 45 minutes to an hour. (I was working out every day four months ago if you guys remember. That tidbit appealed to me. I hate exercise.)

I started last week and I lost a pound. I would of course like to lose more but I'm just sticking with an at least 1 pound per week bare-minimum goal. I do have the goal to get to 165 lbs but I'm not giving myself a due date on that (like I did before). Just tracking my weekly weight loss. I'll let you guy know how I do.
