Yup, I agree with Page ~ Oof, don't get too wrapped up in any of these, a vast majority comes from biased opinion and results in tons of pure BS and propaganda. Yes, the government lies and the media is pretty well controlled ~ but you shouldn't believe in a shred of what is said by others either, unless there's unquestionable scientific proof to say otherwise. There's a reason why skeptical people make great scientists.

I agree, there is ALOT of BS out there. But I just find it fun trying to figure out what is BS and what actually has a possibility of being true. Like I mentioned earlier, no one should take anything in conspiracy videos as truth, but I also feel the exact same thing can be said about what's given to us in the mainstream media and even the education system. In the end its up to people as individuals to decide, since there is so much deception around us.
 
I know where Oof is coming from with this. Its like, I don't believe in ghosts but I like to read about ghosts because they're cool and I like scary stuff. Conspiracies are cool in books and movies so watching wacky people come up with crazy stuff on the spot, or better compile a huuuuuge video of their thoughts is pretty neat to watch, even if you don't believe a word of it.
 
If you're going for entertainment then, sure, conspiracy theories are often hilarious. I can appreciate that. If you want to have something to think about, well, there are so many other topics of actual substance that are both more interesting and more rewarding. Things that have actually been proved, philosophy, history (real history), science (it doesn't have to be a bunch of big words or numbers, there are plenty of science texts written for the layman), the current "Culture War" and the "New Atheists." There are so many wonderful and fascinating documentaries that don't rely on rampant speculation and general paranoia to keep you entertained and engaged.

So, yeah, conspiracy theories are fine, but they belong in the realm of fiction.

Afterword: Hovind is currently in prison. For years he was running his ministries off the record, and when the IRS finally caught up with him he tried to claim that everything he owned (including the profits from his dinosaur amusement park) "belonged to God." He tried to declare bankruptcy to avoid paying the taxes he'd been evading, but failed. After a lengthy trail, during which he pulled just about every bit of bullshit possible, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison, though he's still filling appeals non-stop. Anyways, he's a class act, and I love him.
