The Last Airbender

Well that's where the full blown opinions come in. Because the effects in Avatar were greater than most movie, let alone Jackson, completely. Including the water which is the only real arguable part of Percy Jackson. And your argument on the bending's philosophy is stupid as the show took it from the show and did it pretty loyally. the only difference is that they aren't creating fire with it and are using existing fire, making their movements look unbelievably stupid. Every other time was pretty good (aside from obvious Earth Bending LOL, which was so bad it was funny)

I agree that Jackson is a better MOVIE overall, barely, i mean the kid aspect is fine and the pacing was better......which is sad, but this doesn't make TLA shit at all and definitely not the worst movie ever.
 
w00t! Ok I'm still laying down the hammer with this movie being the worst piece of shit to graze my eyes in quite some time, but in it's wake comes something good. While the movie had a huge backlash from fans, as 95% of all people hated this movie, it did showcase the amount of fans and how much they wanted more Avatar. Sooooo we may be getting a new Avatar show! It will come out 2011 and be in the future 70 years after...Aang dies ! (dun dun duuuuun! Also this may be 70 years after his death or the events of the last show in which he dies during this time). It will base around him and Katara's (finally!) grand daughter Korra who's most likely the new Avatar and thus a waterbender. As well it brings up the question...how will she learn Airbending if Aang was the last one? You can't exactly learn to airbend to rebuild the population of airbenders. My guess is the story may lead to the return of the airbenders in her search to learn it.

[edit] did more research and looks like Kataras+Aangs son, Tenzin, is an airbending teacher! As well it seems the tech has been vamped up and we're possibly getting some steam punk theme going. Further more...seems like the plot will deal with an anti-bender movement...so X-men much? I'm fine with that, if I can see benders uniting against normals with steam engine tanks with the same animation, writing, and voice acting quality of the last show I'm all over this.
 
Ya ive been psychd since i first heard about this. It's like the exact opposite of avatar.
Avatar was a singe remaining airbender in a time of war, looking to learn the other three elements.
Korra is a bender who's mastered the other three elements, in a time of relative peace, and looking for a single airbender.

Since they've got the experience down now they shouldn't hit a little wall with the acting and execution of the first season of Avatar.
 
Well if Aangs son is an airbender and she needs to learn it obviously he wasn't around. Since this is a world with tensions against bending it's likely that he is probably either captive by the enemy and needs to be freed or is fighting the war in secret and needs to be sought out. A focal point may also be that with so few benders keeping an airbender captive maybe a key element is that's the plot line.

And yeah, Avatar definitely got better each season with experience. Even though this is a radically different direction in a world we're familiar with I'm not worried about them screwing it up (and god help them if they do after how bad the movie pissed fans off...even though thats 100% m night's fault). I think they're aware we have a lot of attachment to the current characters and I expect a lot of flash backs that will tie up the stories loose ends (Zuku mother?!?) and bring back characters we're not ready to part with (Toph for life!). There's a lot that can go wrong, but I feel this is one of the strongest and smartest animation efforts I've ever seen and I have a lot of faith invested in this.
