LOL! ..u need to see 'Sixth Sense' man.. Probably the best fim M.Night has made thus far... ...Unbreakable was alright.. not as good as the former tho.. =/
Well I saw it, I had low expectations ever since the director was announced so I was OK with it sucking and hoping to attach to a few guilty pleasure of some cool fighting...However, this is probably one of the worst films I have ever seen. Everything that could've been done right went wrong some how, it literally failed on so many areas I was noticing aspects of movies I never even care to judge such as camera angles (poor camera guy must have been bored twiddling the zoom on the tripod mounted cam for nearly every shot).
I'm not gonna throw spoilers out, but fan of the show or not, you will hate it. The acting is TERRIBLE (I like Aasif mostly, but he is completely miscast...no mutton chops either WTF!). The characters are all vastly miscast (cept Yue), they never look like their counter part or even harness the character (EX: Sokka is not funny in the least and Eiro is thin). One of the worst aspects is the pacing. I fully understand you need to condense a lot of info into a movie but the way they did it was completely wrong. Aang seems to have the power to teleport from plot point to plot point with absolutely no character development, attachment to an event occurring, etc... The pacing in Percy Jackson was more tolerable than this. It feels like the director had a bad case of ADHD after 4 RedBulls. The plot can't even form itself and often events are explained by Kitara throwing you cliff notes with bad narration.
So at least the fighting was good right? NOOOO. That cool trailer where Aang flips over the guy and freezes him made it look promising but in this movie it's god awful. The martial arts do not fit the styles they represent and look like that bad Kata routine you did to gain your orange belt in 3rd grade. The bending also did not mesh at all. Often Aang will do some weird random arm swinging and suddenly you'll get an air bending effect after several motions that has no relevance to the motions. It literally looks like he's doing a dance routine to conjure a spell rather than controlling an element. The bending effects themselves and placement are also weak and offer not a single damn cool scene (yes even the cool freeze effect in that trailer looks terrible in full context).
To make matters worse it disgraced the source material in several ways. Apart from the atrocious casting many things from the world were changed and show a clear indication they had never even watched the series. Sukki is not in it (they felt every need to hit every damn side plot with 2 minute hyper speed scenes and forgot to include her?!?). Fire bending is altered. A fire bender must have a flame started first to bend, they can only warm their body other wise. There is a scene that defies this but one of the guards eludes to this being an exception that shouldn't be. The worst one for me was the redone pronunciations. For some reason they felt a need to redo names. It's unbearable. The changes:
Aang - Ang = uhng
Avatar - av uh tar = uh vi tar
Sokka - Sa ka = SO ka
Agnikai (sp?) - Ag nee KI = Ag nee kee
Eiro - I RO = Err RO
The "Koyzilla" spirit that Aang channels to fight back the fire army is absent in the end and he merely raises a wall of water and the ships leave when they see it. It sucks ass.
The list goes on and on. There's not a single scene or element to even grab on to to help justify it. To put into context how bad this was, I would rather watch a marathon of X-Men3, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Twilight, Dare Devil, Catwoman, and Elektra than rewatch this. It is that bad. It goes beyond simple fanboy anger, it's just one of the worst movies I've ever watched. This following review pretty much sums it up (until I saw it I laughed at the audacity of this, and now shake my head in agreement):
"It is so bad that not only could Uwe Boll make a better movie than Shyamalan has done here, he already has."

If you MUST see it, see it on DVD so you can have the ability to eject it when you've had enough...it does not get better.
Ok, I normally don't go for reviews. But after reading so many bad reviews on this movie, I have opted to only watch this when it comes out to Netflix, and even then Instant Que watch. Not going to waste a dvd slot on this thing.
I was really hoping that M Night Shamalamadumbass would get it right. Maybe he changed the entire movie behind the producer's backs and said "Yea, it's the same!".
