The Dreams Thread

I feel violated and slightly aroused that wombat dreams about me. All homo.

Lucid dreaming has been something of an interest of mine for a while. While I remember I've had many lucid dreams, I can't seem to remember them fully, but just that I was able to control some of them. For instance, when I used to have an interest in song writing, I would dream of singing a song. I would wake up remembering singing words that just flowed wonderfully, but couldn't remember the words, only that I had complete control over them in my dream.

Also, on the note of horrific lucid dreams, I've had a couple. In the last one I remember, I was lying awake on my bed. I was staring at an eagle statue (one that I'd never bothered unboxing from the last time we moved, which was probably my cue) on top of my entertainment center. I began to feel an almost wicked presence as the eagle statue began to levitate and fall as if something huge was just tossing it up and catching it. Dunno why, but a sudden wave of terror came to me as I woke up and found I was completely unable to move, as if something much larger than I was holding me down.

This particular dream was very unnerving because a couple years ago, my mom had a very similar experience.

She told me that, while she was sleeping, a cloaked demon (she said it looked like a dementor from Harry Potter) began to pin her down in her bed. She began to scream and such, but to no avail. She looked around her and every thing was dark. Being the religious woman she is, she began to scream something like "In Jesus' name, begone!" until it finally left her alone. She was freaked the fuck out the next day.

Of course, this was all before I found out about sleep paralysis. Going hand-in-hand with WILDs, I assume thats what had kept us pinned down. Still, it was scary as shit at the time.
Yeah, see guys, that's one possible beginning to a WILD. The good news is if you can realize it's just in your mind, you'll soon find yourself in a dream with full lucidity. I'm lucky in that I only experience really strong vibrations, hardly ever any scary stuff.

What's the big deal about lucid dreaming? I have some degree of control in all my dreams, making choices, changing scenarios, even sometimes rewinding to do things over. I assume everyone does this, so what sets a lucid dream apart?
Well, some people are just natural at lucid dreaming--I know a few on the LD forums, so maybe you're one of those really super lucky people. However, remember that lucidity and control aren't necessarily synonymous. Lucidity just means that you know you're dreaming. That's it. It's possible to be fully aware that you're dreaming, but still be washed along in the dream plot with no control over it. It's also possible to have total control and still not realize it's a dream. The dream will usually give you some contrived plot device to explain your godlike powers in that situation, but maybe not. In my normal dreams, I only get the same amount of control over situations that I have in normal life. No special abilities that I have when I know that I'm dreaming.

I've been doing RC's more this week, and tonight I'm gonna do a full WBTB with Galantamine and choline (all out of nicotine patches) :( and my meditation engine and all my old tricks to try to get a lucid to share with you. My goal will be to summon Asuka Kazama and give her a nice slap her on the butt. And maybe more. >:D (The hard part I've found about summoning video game characters is it's hard to visualize them in the real world, so, off to look at some cosplayers!)

Update: I tried this morning, but I didn't have any choline, so I just ran with the galantamine. I only managed to have a short WILD with no control.

I was in my room and there was this big blue plastic rainwater barrel in there full of water. I started spilling it out all over the floor (It was really light). I thought, "it doesn't matter, it's just a dream anyway" . Then I opened the window and started spilling it on the roof of the front porch. There were all these bugs and leaves and sticks out there and they screamed when I poured the water on them. I felt bad for them.

Then I woke up and was mad that I had no control.

Last night, I had a dream in which I was being hunted down by this scary woman who looked suspiciously like Ivy. Ring, if you're reading this, I blame you.

Most of my dreams range from the bizarre to the makes-me-question-my-own-sanity disturbing, half of them are like Dr Who episodes tbh, but I have had one really spooky dream. I'm not used to posting about serious stuff on this site, so I'll shove this dream in a spoiler tag because it is pretty depressing.
In all my dreams, I'm always myself or a random 3rd-person spectator, except for one dream a few years ago in which I was one of the teachers from my school. I (well, he) was also wearing this wooden bracelet which was gradually blackening with time (kinda like how wood looks after being burned) and somehow I knew that as soon as the whole bracelet became charred, I'd die. Eventually the bracelet became completely black and when it did, I felt a weird sensation in my chest as though air was rapidly flying out of my lungs, kinda like having a gaping hole in my chest. I know stuff feels real in a dream, but it was like no other dream, it was the weirdest feeling. I woke up panicking at this point. Anyway, a couple of weeks later, that same teacher died from lung cancer.

Although I'm still a complete sceptic and don't believe dreams are anything more than your unconscious mind running wild, I will admit that this dream was pretty spooky. Also, sorry about the depressing nature of this dream!

Also, I love lucid dreaming. I get annoyed as I slowly gain more and more control over it though, because that's when I cross that barrier between dreaming and just imagining.

Not sure if the really bad cramp I had in my leg yesterday night was real or a dream :/

Man it was painful.

I had a dream over the weekend where I was playing as Ivy. It was weird though, because even though I was pushing buttons, it was also like I was doing the moves myself. I was against Astaroth, but he had Ivy's weapon and moves. I assumed it was some kind of CAS creation. I think I lost.

Can someone explain to me that when a woman, lets say, oh I dunno my wife, has a dream about me, shes mad at me for the rest of the day?

Ive never cheated on that girl in the 12 years weve been together. Hell Id be to scare to. She hit me in the face with a frying pan while I sleep.
