The best games you've never heard of.

Don't know if anyone's mentioned it but this is one of my favorite RPG's. I really wish it had just as much recognition then other mainstream RPG's do. Now if I can only get my hands on the first one x3

Nice! is my favorite PS2 RPG, is so freaking awesome and how the story develops, that was epic, totally loved it.

To the bitter old man, of all the rpgs mentioned in this thread tell me which ones are "mediocre"? cause all I see is Gold from Legend of Dragoon to Breath of fire, which btw is really good.

Edit: Vagrant Story is not by any means a "best game you never heard of" is was really popular back in the day and sold a shit lot of units. Is more like a "best game you surely heard of" kinda game.

Got another I used to play when I was real little. So many memories.

So old school x3

It needs a sequel on the newer consoles dangit. It shouldn't end with Ghoul Patrol or whatever the heck the other one was.

JRPG's are stale, and have been stale since the PS1 Era. Idk about you, but I've seen enough shounen anime character protagonists wrapping around a faux-deep "plot", which is only confusing because the translators hands are tied, and the stupid japanisms of the genre remain in the game.

If you've played one JRPG, you've played them all.

More than that, how many times can a person be entertained by a skinner box without losing their self respect?

Legend of the Dragoon is a sacred cow RPG that needs to be killed. You had one interesting combat mechanic, but terrible level pacing and an extremely generic JRPG story. It's a SNES deep RPG which has no excuse to exist except to market to people who equate grinding and time with gameplay depth. I'm glad it never got a sequel.

You can only make menu based combat so interesting.

Hmm, what JRPG's have you played before and what genre of games do you prefer? I'm not mad that you don't like em it's no biggie. We have different preferences. Just tryin' to get an idea of what you like.
