Isn't that a simpler task? I'm pretty damn far from a neurology researcher but I'd imagine the simpler process requires less work and is therefore viable with a lesser brain. Like how flies have reflexes that are ridiculous compared to pretty much anything with a bigger brain. I am just pulling this out of my ass, but doesn't it make sense?

That's probably the sole reason why insects have insane reactions compared to our standards. Simpler brain processing, simpler electrical messages, faster and more direct response. Makes perfect sense to me. Not to mention insect nerves have a MUCH shorter distance to travel from limb to brain.

But then again, human beings were not exactly built to have lightning reflexes either. My cat has far faster reactions than I do.

Just because we're the dominating species makes us "God's" favorite creation? Dude, something like that is bound to happen on any habitable planet. We are but a spec of dust in this infinite, or humongous and finite, universe.
