For me, atheism makes this existence more precious because it's fleeting. This may be it. So, there's more of a sense of urgency. I'm not promised an eternity or a purpose. So, I have to find my own purpose and make this existence count. If there is a God, who's to say he/she/it is any religion? If there is only a Christian God, then people like Ghandi are burning in hell for eternity while people like Hitler could conceivably be in heaven. Same rationale works behind all religions. Believe this or suffer the consequences regardless of how good you are. I don't buy it.

First of all God does exist, second of all Jesus does exist and thirdly human life is nothing, we are basically just insects living with a conscious on this planet.

You *DO* realize that by coming into a thread about the less-spiritual beliefs and proclaiming your personal, opposing beliefs as inrrefutable truth that you're really just giving all people of faith a bad name...right? 'Cuz I mean, if the other people that have the same beliefs are you are that dim...

And no, don't come back saying you didn't understand what you were saying. You did, that's why you said it. How's that for irrefutable truth?

As long as people stick from bashing religions, I see no problems.

The only thing keeping me from becoming atheist myself is the question of creation. How did all of this start? Even if we go with the big bang theory and say that everything started from a singularity point, well where did that point come from? It keeps coming back to the fact that something started this whole universe...and it must be a god of some sort.

It goes both ways doesn't it? How did God start? How did what started God start? How did the Big Bang start? How did what started the Big Bang start? All legitimate questions.
