Like with everything, it depends on the state. Florida is not hard, but it is expensive to get the license here... 30 bucks for a bullshit alcohol and drugs test (which is mandatory for first time drivers), 50 for the learner's permit exam, 40 for the license exam, and an extra fee for the actual physical license. Plus whatever you pay for driving lessons.

It's a lot of information to take in for the written exam, but the actual driving test is not hard.
