Yarp, get a beard trimmer, they are relatively cheap. I love my babyliss iStubble. I think its called conair in the states, I trim everything to like a 2mm or 3 and but leave a bit more on chin and stache.

Babyliss are fantastic. Once I figured out how it works. 5am in the morning and I just got it out, attached one of the heads (and not the black blade bit) and basically achieved nothing but confusion and occasional ow.
