Street Fighter x Tekken

Which would be my guess as well, but SF X TK was shown first.

But maybe we'll get something from TK X SF at Gamescon.

The people who work on Tekken aren't usually the same people who work on Soulcalibur. Different divisions of Namco.

While this is true, i would really assume that the next SC will even come later now due to Namco´s internal resources.

Not even 2012 maybe...

It's pretty debatable how much in the way of work and resources a game like this would take.

If we look at the example shown, SF vs Tekken, it's pretty obvious that it's just a straight port of SF4 at this point, with the exact same models and animations. Capcom would just have to make the Tekken characters, add in whatever new gameplay tweaks they need, and it'd be just about done.

Namco will probably do the same with Tekken vs SF. It'll be Tekken 6 with Street Fighter characters.

Usually the one of the most resource intensive aspects of developing a new game is the engine, because you need to have that done before you can build anything else into it. With both of these games the engine is already in place.

It was said by Yoshinori Ono in a famitsu interview that the game will take about 2 years until it comes out and they started developing it since 2-3 months!

And if they use a modified T6 engine, or a wohle new one is not known.

But it will take some resources over quite a long time, that´s for sure.

If Namco is able to pull of another SC or Tekken in the meantime... That would be great. But well i don´t think so.

I would give you a link to the article, but i have it only in german and japanese(original).

But the articel should be shown soon on other websites like gamespot, GT or IGN.

2 games really is overkill. I get they are trying to continue with the hype around the fighting genre but 2 games is overkill. The average consumer will think "didn't this game already come out?" SF fans will probably buy the SF one and Tekken fans will probably buy the other. Ofcourse some are fans of both and will buy both. But all in all I don't really see the logic behind this. With MvC3 coming it really is starting to feel like an over saturation of games. I know there will be a gap between games but MvC3 isn't out T6 came out kind of recently and were already hearing about T7 SFvsT TvsSF, it just seems like too much.

I still do have hope for SC5 because it is somewhat a different audience. Even from a casual stand point I dont think casual fans of fighting games buy every fighting game, they buy the ones they like. Although I wont be surprised at all if we dont see SC5 for a while,
