Stick problem - need advice

I have a Hori EX2 that I customized a while back for my 360 and for a good while it was working great. However it recently started doing this thing where it will randomly cut out and the "please reconnect controller" message will appear on screen when it is very clearly still plugged in. When it is working all the buttons and microswitches are working fine, it just continually keeps "disconnecting" on me. It's happening more and more and is to the point where I can make it through the menus but it starts disconnecting right before I start a fight. This is my first time modding anything and was wondering if anyone knew what could be causing it. Since the buttons work fine when its connected I don't think its the pcb board (at leat I'm praying its not, replacing that would be a pain), my gut tells me its the cord but I'm kinda inexperienced so I'm not really sure.

Can you use it in a different USB port? I don't know too much about what's going on in your stick, but you should probably make sure no uninsulated wires cross, and that it's not a problem with the USB port itself. Otherwise my best guess would be something funny going on with your pcb.

Nah, my stock stick and all my regular controllers work fine in it. My other port has been busted for a while so I only have one working on the front.

I've seen this happen before too.

I think it's probably the cord too (the place they get bad is usually where the cord goes into the controller).
If you bend it a certain way in the right place the problem may be solved (and then you also know you need a new cord).

I actually electrical taped one of my cords so it would stay bent in the right place (instead of gettin it fixed).

I think ya may be right, I just noticed something on it.
