Speaker troubles

Well, my computer is a piece of shit. So, one day I turn it on and it just freezes up- so I had to do a system restore. After the system restore was complete, the computer worked fine again. However, my speakers won't work anymore. I've unplugged it and plugged it in again, but no luck. I went into control panel/sound, speech and audio devices and it doesn't show up as an audio device. Anyone else have this problem in the past and can help me out?

Did your PC originally come with a CD with drivers on it ? You may have to reinstall the sound drivers. :\ If you don't have a disc, you can usually google your PC model and look for the drives. What kind of PC do you have ?

I wouldn't know, I was very young when we got this computer. It's a Windows XP/Compaq/Presario 6000. I believe we got it in the year 1998 or 2000. VERY old, and sorry I'm a noob when it comes to this.

Go here, pick your make/model, and download the driver.

You could also try going to device manager and updating the sound driver.

btw, you really need to upgrade. lol.
