SoulCast #31: The ShiningBaconCast

Why do you need multiple buttons? If you can move a,b,k,g to wherever you like then there should be no problem with multiple button inputs or comfortable hand placement.

Fun fact- rtd used to play L1 g, L2 a, R2 b, R1 k back in calibur 2
.
PRESSING A+K SIMULTANEOUSLY OR B+G SIMULTANEOUSLY AS IT IS ON THE FACE OF THE CONTROLLER IS REALLY STUPID. I HAVE AN EXTRA K SET TO R1 AND AN EXTRA B SET TO R2 TO RECTIFY THIS.

LIKE I SAID IN CHAT, THE PROBLEM IS WITH HOW NAMCO DESIGNED THE MOVES IN-GAME. I'M NOT CHEATING THE INPUTS ON MY END.

Muffins, I understand that b+g and a+k is hard on normal controller config. I was not suggesting that you have to keep the default button placements only that there should be only be 4 buttons. You can place them wherever you like and luckily a+k has been removed from Scv so its one less thing to deal with. Moving g to Any of the shoulder buttons seems like a logical move so you have access to b+g.

Oh and good shit dime, listened to this while cleaning the house today

TRADITIONAL ARCADE CONTROLLER:
  • ADVANTAGE = SUPERIOR BUTTON LAYOUT (NO EXTRA MAPPING REQUIRED TO PRESS A+K AND B+G QUICKLY)
  • DISADVANTAGE = INFERIOR DIRECTIONAL INPUTS (SLOWER TO MOVE AROUND)

MODERN CONSOLE CONTROLLER:

  • ADVANTAGE = SUPERIOR DIRECTIONAL INPUTS (FASTER TO MOVE AROUND)
  • DISADVANTAGE = INFERIOR BUTTON LAYOUT (MAPPING REQUIRED TO PRESS A+K AND B+G AS QUICKLY AS ON ARCADE)

KAB: WHAT YOU'RE ASKING FOR ONLY MAKES SENSE IF I ALREADY USE AN ARCADE STICK. BUT I'M SAYING NAMCO SHOULD RECOGNIZE THE PROS AND CONS ABOVE BY FIXING THE MOVES THEMSELVES IN-GAME, SO THAT PLAYERS DON'T FEEL COMPELLED TO SWITCH CONTROLLERS ALTOGETHER.
