No...don't want to explain why either. However i'll keep it simple

Now everyone else's reason is flawed: "because it doesn't fit with the story"
My answer to that: Well, no shit sherlock. that's why they're guest characters.

My reason: It's just really not needed, but then again it MIGHT work.
Here's how: $$$$$$$$$ turns into funds for patches (hopefully) = Updates (really...really...hopeful)

Other than that....it's just for this...
$$$$$$$$$ + bigger fanbase = possible larger tournaments.

Besides, who wouldn't want a nationals in which Sephiroth would win the tournament.

I guess...really...i'm in the middle. Ideally...no it really isn't needed, however it could be i guess fun to the causal gamer.

in the end your reason just feels like wishful thinking. revenue that sc4 made didn't make more patches. nor did it make any updates. well if you want to call BD an update (i don't.) then i guess.. but no. those guest characters wouldn't do anything in terms of patches to the game or anything.. hell did they even do a serious patch to sc4 since it's been out on consoles? not counting DLC but actually patched the game and fix certain gameplay issues. I'm pretty sure they did one or two right? sounds about right.. but the game is still kinda flawed.

guest characters do nothing but like you said, appeal to the casual crowd. in the end they're just icing on a cake. fun when just having fun with them.. otherwise.. it's... pretty meh.

where do i stand? no where. i give two shits about who guest stars in the next soul calibur... makes no difference. they're just there. you got, link, hei, spawn. star wars, and kratos. oh yeah and them other characters by comic book artists... pleanty of fun. its whatever.

I have an idea that soul calibur can crossover with mortal kombat and be sucessful.i think soulcalibur can crossover with mortal kombat (but their will be two versions like tekkkenx streetfighter and Streetfighterxtekken)meaning the sc version will be more weapon based fighting and have character creation options etc. and The mortal kombat version will of course be more gory but has realistic violence and has a weapon switching system and etc.The version will be called soulcaliburxMortal kombvat(soulcalibur version)and mortalkombatxsoulcalibur(mortalkombat version).And P.s.Mortal kombat characters have used weapons before.Look up Mortal kombat deception,Mortal kombat Deadly alliance ,Mortal kombat Shaolin monks and Mortal kombat Armaggeddon.And as a plus Mortal kombat and Soul calibur are both Popular games.

how about we just have a SC 5 with NO guest characters. namco just needs to invent some new people for the series. there is plenty of awesome fighting styles out there to make a couple of totally new characters. if i wanted to play Star Wars or Zelda ill PLAY Star Wars or Zelda not SC.
