Please. Having a competitor did not stop the Ps3 from launching at 600 dollars, having a competitor doesn't stop the 360 from charging for online gaming and having a competitor does not stop console games from costing 60-70 dollars. There's already a monopoly forming among publishers. As for my say I own both consoles already and nobody cares what I think because they're trying to convince me to give their 3d and motion control experiments my money (but let's face it it's not my money they're gunning for) instead of focusing on games.

You can say "okay now think of what your playbox 4000 will cost!" but there is a realistic ceiling to how much they can charge and still turn a profit. Execs from both sides have said that they're pushing that limit now when asked about launching the next gen. And they still have to deal with piracy, publishers, phones and pc's. What's more, having only one console would lower production costs. That results in lower prices, less buggy games, more publishers, a boon to indie development and more experimentation.

You're absolutely right. Having a competitor did not stop sony from launching at 600... but having a competitor did help in bringing that price down asap didn't it? you think they would have brought that price down sooner if there was no competition? think for a second gj.. you're smarter than that. having a competitor did give knowledge on what sony should do with their online and how they might improve from it. having a competitor gives them ideas on how they want to approach a console launch. looking at their own faults as well as others. striving for the best. having a competitor help brought the kinect and move to life. sure a lot of these things have been in development for years, and are just now making their way to mass market. but without a proven success rate, who's to say this shit would have taken off. think about how the industry first scoffed at nintendo for doing it...

nobody gives a shit what you think? are you serious? you want people to pay attention to you? they don't. they look at your money. your money talks for you. your money tells them what you think. and they're not trying to convince you of shit. they show you this. they show you that. and they show you the third, to see what you're willing to buy. if it sells.. then it gets mass produced. if it doesn't.. then it's a flop. and it's onto the next one. and the thing is, noone is really forcing you into this new tech adoption shit. sure there's a lot out there, may seem like it.. but the option to turn and keep that bitch off is there. of course, they would ultimately love it if they created a demand for these things, because this shit ain't fuckin cheap. but if it's dead, it's dead and companies move onto the next one.

also, games for the most part have always cost around that price range. sure during the ps days the price dropped to around 50... but guess what? nintendo games cost on average where? 60-80 dollars. snes games? 59.99 -79.99 don't give me no fuckin bull shit ass bitchin and moanin. that's the basic priceline for a video game.

after reading your second paragraph i can now say... "look at what they'll do to try and counter all the bullshit.." I've told you what a 360 deal is right? shit like that is already happening with game consoles in the form of dlc's and online passes etc. studios need to recoup their losses somehow when people find other ways to fuck them over. because, they want to save a buck, but still "live the life"... do you really think a game would be less buggy if only one console was out there? that's an ideal statement... thing is.. tech is tech. shit's going to be buggy regardless. but i'll tell you this much.. you really wouldn't have much say if there was one console on the market. if there's a less buggy version.. then you can't get it because guess why.. it's only on one console... sure, you can say but they're only utitlizing one dev kit so you won't have to worry about ports... that's not going to stop the game from having glitches. and you won't have any real options whatsoever. you really will have to make do with whatever is there or piss off... yes, there is a realistic ceiling on how much they can charge to turn a profit. but guess what? consoles are all about losing money. for the first some odd years, it's not the consoles that generate the profit... it's the accessories and the software... Think, why is Ms going through an antitrust lawsuit right now? because.... come on.. think.. google it if you have to... there it is.... if you're the only available console, and you use the same bullshit that Ms is doing with the 360 well, then that's a serious problem. because then you can charge whatever you want for whatever accessory and your "comp" in that market will have no way to survive.. especially if they make it so only "MS/Sony" certified cables are able to be used... but can you blame them? they need to counter the bullshit somehow some way.. it's just business.. and what can you do with that?

not a damn thing.

competition = good. +1 for truth. cause you know it is.

ps. I'm not trying to insult you or nothin gj, you know i got love for ya homie. (no homo) but I just don't see it that way. maybe in an ideal fantasy world where shit don't matter, one console and shit is all perfect would be nice... but i can't imagine shit like that being any kind of good in the real world. to me it just screams immature or naive young thought process... and i know you're not that.

*MS*, *Clout.*

Seriously, it's not like you have a bia$ or anything.

While I think it's highly improbable I'd love for them to work on a console together. "Competition is a good thing." my ass, you know what's a good thing? Getting all the games I want on one system and never having to worry over what version to get based on who has which console ever again.

Though I think it's highly unlikely they're referring to game consoles here I think they could make a beautiful console together.

rofl. somebody mad.
