The man was a blind trapeze artist. He always drew in huge crowds because to everyone's amazement he worked without a net. Everyone wondered how he managed to time his jumps without being able to see the swinging bars. The secret was that the man who did the drumroll leading up to his initial leap would stop drumming right before the blind man was supposed to jump, and that was how he knew the bar was within his reach, and the rest was just done by feel and by timing. Well, on this night, the drummer had been drinking and accidentally dropped his stick. The acrobat thought this was his cue to jump, but the trapeze wasn't there and he fell to his death.
