So we all love SC, but when is the fighting game going to take it's next leap forward?

I would very much like to see some contemporary animation techniques implemented in Soul Calibur V. Just take a look at EA Sports MMA (or UFC Undisputed, for a not so good example) and you'll see what I mean. From what I saw at the trailers, it doesn't look like it's gonna be the case.

I suppose I'll still love the game, but I think it's gonna look terribly outdated, having only canned animations. I'd like to see more circumstantial stuff (no cuts in animation when a character gets hit) and grappling that actually fits (not having Ashlotte throw people with telekinesis).

I dream with technology like this from ages ago, and now a bunch of games have it. Shame SCV probably won't.

What are your speculations for the next generation of fighting games? Will it ever happen? Think about the leap from SF and MK to Tekken and SE, will we see the same advances when new consoles hit, or will we be playing SC9 in 2025?

Blaz blue is an evolution in its on. Also comeback factor and more simplistic play have been added (I think to have players rely more on reading opponents instead of what they can do with their fingers).

Truthfully I really don't see how they could enhance the fighting game genre any further than what it is just tweaks and fine tuning. In a way it builds nostaligia in all our hearts so i'm pretty coo with that.
