Skyrim

No, you shouldn't do something that is purposely ruining the game for your self. THAT's stupid. It's like saying Doom is no fun is you turn on God mode and infinite ammo. It's not a fighting game, so you don't need to take advantage of every exploit to win. If your goal is to have a challenging experience, limit yourself.
You just listed cheat codes. This "exploit" in skyrim I'm talking about is not a cheat, hack or mod of any kind. It is simply taking full advantage of the mechanics the game has to offer.

I've never had to limit myself in any game before, at least not like this.

Normally, if the game is designed right, you take full advantage of what the game has to offer just so you can be just strong enough to get through the game, but not game breaking.

In a well designed RPG, it is required to micromanage like that.

Either way, I don't play Skyrim anymore. In fallout, I can take full advantage of the game and NOT become god/broken.

If this was a competitive game it would be a whole different ball game though and I would agree, but in a single player experience there is no reason the player shouldn't police themselves to make the game as rewarding as possible. Just because they labeled it CHEAT doesn't mean it's not part of the game. Cheats were built into Doom. It's besides the point anyway. If Bethesda just had put a popup in the game when you started to loop alchemy/enchanting that said "By the way, this is cheating" would that have improved the game? The point is that there really wouldn't be any difference between the devs fixing the exploit or you just refusing to use the exploit. End result would be a game with no exploit. You shouldn't purposely ruin your own gaming experience solely for some misguided principle.

I get what your saying, and I somewhat agree on some level. You play games to have fun.

TBH, by the time I discovered the fortify restoration exploit, I was already bored with the game. Bored with the combat, bored with the story, bored with exploring, etc.

I played all types of characters, from standard types to hybrid ones of my creation. I played all close combat types, stealthy assassin/archer types, pure thief types, all types of mages (I even played one that was completely non-destruction magic).

No matter what type of character, the game got real boring real fast.

Quests? It's either go fetch this, go steal shit, go kill these people, or go talk to someone. It's all the same thing over and over again. Repetitive, boring, monotonous.

This game isn't fun no matter how I chose to play, no matter how I "limit" myself. They just failed in this game in everything except graphics.

What kind of ideas would you have in mind for a quest? (Just say anything, even though we all know the games broken)

I agree, the game feels pretty unremarkable IMO. It's exciting for a short while but it doesn't have any staying power. I miss Morrowind.
