Honestly, I'm more likely to dick around with my ammo consumption on Story Mode. The number of times I've just emptied a clip of magnum ammo out of solo-play frustration is kinda funny (I think I have more magnum kills than shotgun kills...), but I hardly ever touch it in Mercenaries.

And yes, Reave, I noticed. I also called it after release.

Not here, I don't think, but it was damn obvious.
 
Well, in this game, handgun + quick shot + melee = so long, generic Zombie/J'avo. Considering how abundant 9mm ammo is as well... it's only logical.
You don't really want to quickshot+melee in mercs unless it's a weapon zombie and even then it's better to counter for the time. Against weaponless zombies in UC you should headshot+melee because it kills faster and uses less stamina. In mining the depths you should counter all gunless zombies.

Magnum is great in Mercs for taking down bosses or for saving a combo with a fast kill.

I think Urban Chaos is the hardest, the Whoppers are so bloody annoying, but O.O Ada 50 Amo Box kill with less that 50 shots lol....or 5 explosive arrows.
I hoping for the other J'avo maps...but Carla is so bad at them but against Zombies she is the girl. Jake is best at J'avo and Ada is just fine against both.
