Hi there everyone at 8wayrun! This is my story.
I'm a new player to this game, I've just played a few few hours.
I played Soul Calibur 2 way back in the days on my old xbox. Then i found it and played some and i got stuck again. Though I knew I wanted to play against some people I was not going to find any soul calibur 2 players out there hehe. So I got myself a ps3 and bought SCV!
Been watching 8wayrun on twitch very much and I've watched tournaments like EVO and so on and it looks like so much fun!

I'm still trying to figure out which character to play!
I don't want to play anything mainstream though like Mitsu or Nightmare. Thats not my style.
I want to be "different" so I'm thinking of picking up Raphael or maybe Voldo or something have not seen too many of them out there. Might not be the best picks for a new player but..
What do you all think :) ?

Hello and welcome. The mentality of being "different" is very alluring. Remember that once the charm has worn off you'll be stuck with the restrictions of that character, hence the reason why the character isn't very popular to begin with. It will be up to you to overcome those limitations and play differently than other people. There's pros and cons to that. For one, you'll not have many strategies developed by other players, because there aren't that many players to begin with. Conversely, people will have trouble adapting to your strategies because they aren't widely known.

If you stick with a character and have fun there is a lot you can learn. But It may get frustrating trying to remember which stance is which, or how those stances work on a more complex level.

A specific example of these "different" characters is that Raphael suffers from bad step-kill, meaning people can step him at range easily so as a player you'll have to be creative and figure out how to work around these issues. This can be very frustrating as a lower level player when there is already a lot going against you. Plus, you'll have the nay-sayers who will try to convince you that your character is garbage and can't win, which most of us know is scrub propaganda (usually).

Anywho welcome. If you have any other questions just ask or PM me.

That is very true. I've been thinking about what you said aswell and that concerns me a bit.
But what's the fun in playing someone that everyone is playing? haha
I will try some different characters out though and see wich one i feel more comfortable with.
Thanks for the warm welcome :D!
