Madnis, you need a long-distance apprentice? PICK ME PICK ME. :3

John, thanks ya! I'm so happy to be graduating soon. Though, I totally wish I could find a job in my field right now. Working on it, for reals. And lol yeah I can make the cake.. decently well, I guess. My abuela taught me, but of course, nothing compares to hers. :D

Ah, np. It's a funny thing. I always feel like artists are better a better class of people than myself. Not necessarily better people (we'll leave that for a case by case basis) but I am impressed by them. As for that cake, your grandma has experience on her side. In time, your cake shall surpass hers. You have a higher midichlorian count or something.

rofl My immediate thoughts:

"This is not the cake you're looking for."

I'm not an amazing artist (yet), but I can say one thing, without even being pretentious. I am so much better at design than all of my graduating class and under. The things they come up with. Meh. It's like they just slapped something on a page. No colour coordination, blurry/altogether shitty images. Just meh. :[ It makes me really sad. And wonder why they're in graphic design. WHO WILL GIVE THESE PEOPLE JOBS? And why is the bare minimum okay? Keep improving your shit. Learn your programs, in and out and back again, goddamnit. >:C I'm not even that great, but they make me look like graphic design jesus.

Sorry, I got carried away there. I just saw something that looked.. just.. terrible. And ranting came out.

Krit I'm not a good mentor. I'm still getting my shit together, but if you want me to look at stuff and give feedback I'd be more than happy to. Also I remember when I and a few friends I have had the exact attitude.. It's a humbling moment when it comes to landing a job... It's more about who u know vs your skill. Talent and skill does count for something don't get me wrong, but credibility gets you farther. Landing your first gig in the art field is very hard.. But once you land about two years of experience, it should get easier. By the by, I remember A lot of your old stuff, I'm curious to see how well you developed your talent since then.

Gj gosh, I can't vent? Of course I can make it happen if I wanted to badly enough but I'm not quite there yet... My self imposed exile from the states shall end in 2013... Then it's off to wherever the money is... If its in Cali I'm crashin at your place. Giving you fair warning

Edit professionally bare minimum is okay because
A: cheaper. Expendable employees that is just enough to get the job done. If you have set goal why go beyond what's needed?
B: easier to mold. Someone who's more independent and has their own style and work ethics might not go well with your team and thus hinder the production pipeline and slow work progress down. Bare minimum allows for easily trainable employees that can be trained to work well within the production pipeline.

C: less headache for upper management. Bare minimum employees will do what they're told far more than people who might tend to experiment more with what they're given.

D: trainable. Should be no secret that every studio you work at you will be trained. If you go in with the bare minimum knowledge it allows for flexible training.

List goes on and on but gist is, bare minimum equals cheaper, efficient person. Suited well for production work as usually everything Is done with the idea that basic is best
