wow dude... i just checked the post. image is never finished ey? learned that back in college i did. here are some other things i learned: never compare yourself to other artists, simply because you tend to compare your work with people who you believe are better than you, and that's just not healthy. also learned that style is formed as you continue to work and develop particular habits as you create your art. you create a signiture based on your habits. but too many times people will fuck up something somewhere in their work and they'll simply pass it off as "style". understand that's not style, that's a fuck up. never use style as a crutch.
you also have to be open minded and you have to be able to listen to other people's crits. especially if you present them with what they believe is a weak piece and they go on to destroy it verbally. but also understand that those are just things you have to work on to please that one person to make that image visually appealing to him/her. group crits are more constructive as you'll be able to get a rounder point of view of what you should do to make that image stronger. take the ideas that you feel sound right and throw out the ones that go against your original thought/message/intent. work those ideas in somehow and marry them to your original piece and it'll benefit from it.
we never say an image is finished, we just say we ran out of ideas on how to make it better. care to share? heh.. this is how we grow. not just by ourselves but together! YES! me? i'm just a humble animator...
dude i went from lion king to rurouni kenshin in my head. how weird is that?
