So apparently figuring out a diet for weight training is about one step below rocket science.

And I'm no rocket scientist.

The perfect after workout shake (brought to you by the Mens Health Abs diet)

Add in a blender:
1/2 bag of frozen berries of your choice (my fav is blackberry, but I think raspberries have more antioxidants. Strawberries and bananas as well as blueberries are great also)
Tablespoon of fiber one cereal
2 table spoons of whey powder (I like vanilla)
1 or 2 tablespoons of vanilla yogurt (or plain)
Cover with skim or 2% milk
It was not in the recipe, but I always added a raw egg for old school goodness.
Blend well.

It is a good treat for your labor and it gives your body all it needs to recover and build muscle.

If it is too much for one glass, save it in a travel mug in the freezer for the next day.

I don't know, but you need calories. It's energy. Whether you are bulking or toning, your body is an engine that needs fuel. Constant fuel in small amounts (figure 6 snacks a day instead of 3 large meals) and you will start losing weight and gaining muscle in a couple of weeks with a work out where you burn it. And just HAVING muscle, burns calories even while you sleep.

Stay away from anything white (white bread, potatoes, rice, pasta)
Stay away from anything deep fried (most fast foods)
Stay away from high fructose corn syrup (almost all sodas or gas station beverages). Real sugar is better. The corn syrup actually makes you feel full so you don't eat the right stuff that turns you into a combustion engine.

All other foods in moderation are fine.
Snack all day with good foods. You'll be surprised.

One night a week, eat whatever you want. It will keep you from binging. Allow yourself one night of hedonistic gluttony. You will find in 2 or 3 weeks time that you don't even want to "load up" on that night.

I got to where I could not even drink a coke or eat a McDonalds burger because my tastes changed. Red meat, fish, cheese, veggies, ....everything else tasted better but the grease / sugar bombs tasted worse.

*steps off podium*

Edit: I went from 205 to 183 in 6 weeks and was in the best shape of my life.

Yeah, I am just getting into all that nutrition stuff lately.

I am cutting right now, so I'm going to shoot for 1864 calories a day.

As for the protein/carb/fat of the diet, I am working on that as we speak.
