how long does it take to for a gecko's tail to grow back once its fallen off? how does it stop the bleeding?

The kind I have (crested gecko or rhacodactylus ciliatus) do not grow their tails back. As for the stopping the bleeding, I really don't know either. Luckily, mine still has his tail and I'm not planning on making him drop it.
