yeah
I remember at a Anime Expo panel (2011) these guys are making a legit mech for construction and mining. They were using parts from airplanes, cars, and other things. Their prototype (as they said) wasn't pretty and the AI was amazing. They said you can join if your down to work in the Mojave desert in a "hot box" of a building.
