Quake

I did a lot of mapping for quake 2, but i was a consummate perfectionist and never released a one to the public. I had a mapping forum I went to where I'd ask friends to take a look at my work though. My crowning achievement in originality was a map that occasionally filled up with lava forcing players to vie for the safe zones on the map when the warning went off. Now I show it to people and they say "Heh, you copied this from smash brothers huh?" Philistines.

I still fancy the revolving tube I made with large gear like projections coming into the feild of play, the idea was the terrain and cover was always moving but it murdered the pc's of the day. There were other maps I made that were beyond the constraints of the day's computers like a room made of pistons that reshaped itself every four minutes which is why I stopped mapping. VIS absolutely hated rooms comprised of entities, they didn't block VIS and the BIS and QRAD data couldn't cope with them so they'd render in fullbright or just weirdly. I should see about getting back to that. I bet today's computers and engines could handle the stuff I could cook up. The only problem is learning a new engine and all the tags and systems that go with it.
