The PSPgo is an obvious transition for two reasons:
1 - Get rid of brick and mortar stores... gamestop sucks and the gaming industry has been trying to get rid of them for a long time... the whole idea of used game sales undermines the game distributor by cutting sales for everyone except gamestop.
2 - Get rid of piracy. This is another thing where people let Nintendo go. So many developers are coming out and stating that they won't make games for the PSP due to the rampant piracy on the system. Yet the DS has the R4 Cartridge, which is WAY more prevalant than Pandora Batteries... but that hasn't stopped them from churning out DS games.
Its got nothing to do with install base, the PSP has sold 52 million units worldwide... it has been skyrocketting in sales for the past year and has consistantly been beating DS sales. I wonder how many of the DS sales are just the same customers re-buying the DS because Nintendo updates it every fucking year; and Nintendo, like Apple is one of those companies that people believe can do no harm.
