PSN DOWN WTF?!1

It's only what i've heard and loose testing in online debates for the lag. I will give that the xBox Razor pad likely out does EVERYTHING a PS3 controller can do. I havent gotten a hold of it, but if they made a PS3 one I would buy it instantly. Ps3 has weak analogs and some people are not big on the triggers. I could never imagine a fighter on a PC, there's nothing wrong with it in concept cuz you can just plug in any controller...but i dont know, it's so weird to me...it's like people playing shooters on xbox when there's a PC version...I just ask myself why if you have options?

While each system has ups in down, they have clear advantages in certain areas they exceed preference and one of those is definitely online. I can't think of anything a PS3 does better online...cept that it's free...and I have a job so not a huge concern

Ohhhh please. XBL has gone down before too. Just cause you pay for something doesn't mean its going to be there all the time.

IFB: people have reasons for playing shooters on Xbox. Some are exclusive, have exclusive content, huge player base, they are paying for the service anyway, and the major reason. The Friend list. I've been on XBL for 6 years(and counting) and I have friends on there, some quite close. And I'd rather play with those folk than hop on to PC and team up with Team Random and friends and be frustrated beyond comprehension.(usually, you will be. Hell even in a lax game of TF2, can go straight to shit cause everyone thinks going Engineer is a game winning strat, only to get royal fucked by 1 Spy*example. Not to say Xbox is "ahurr" free, hell larger playbase in some games means more retardation to deal with...anyway Im straying off...bottom line IFB. Friends > Controls.

Well the controls are a huge reason. It's not a simple matter of preference such as pad vs stick, the mouse keyboard can do things that are IMPOSSIBLE to recreate on a pad. Take into account general accuracy and other reasonings and there's no Split Fish type device for the xbox it's a very 1 sided argument for both casual and highe level play. People argue, but they haven't really considered the realities of the 2.

outside of controls...servers and general online support. The tools we have typically on a PC easily outshine what xbox and PSN offer...the ONE exception is COD...and my stance on that game is that despite it's success, it's marketing has been forced and the game is hugely flawed in many ways (hopefully to be dethroned by the more deserving Battlefield 3). That game personally shafted PC users to a point lawsuits should've been filed. Furthermore...FPS's always have a strong community on PC. For competitive play unless you have a some ass backwards game like COD, PC is the place to be. Hardcore players know the benefits of mouse/keyboard and appreciate the advanced benefits you get with custom servers and mods.

I personally found TF2 impossible to play on a PS3 and I can't expect xbox to have been much better, that game just doesn't work well with pad. Also playing COD MW2 on both xbox and PC I noticed a distinct shift in balance. I had MANY complaints on PC that the knife (unmodded!) was completely broke because you could eliminate numerous people in combination with a side arm or SMG in a flank before anyone could respond. I found this not an issue on the xbox because there was no way to coordinate that much action, and I found other guns to become broke due to the games compensating auto aim and lack of fear of tactics only possible on PC. Sneaking up on 3-4 guys was no problem on a PC, I could be that badass...but on an xbox I had to be weary of 2 guys. Which might sound good...but it was balancing a broken game with gimped control.

A friends list is subjective...I've had a clan on a Wii shooter before...I think I can get something going on a PC...and really I would trust them more due to them probably having mutual views on FPSs and likely better players for it. Also Steam...

3rd person shooters are an exception. I've been hinted that console pad outshines the mouse keyboard set up, but i have yet to compare. As well some games are simply supported better on xbox, but those titles are few.

IFB: Dude you asked why people play on Xbox and I simply gave you a few reasons why someone may say "fuck it" control wise.(granted, main reason I gave is subjective and based on personal) You found TF2 impossible on console(not getting into PS3/360 debate), I could play the game on console just fine (in the confines of how the game plays on console). I picked up the PC, not cause of controls. I picked it up cause the Console versions of TF2 never got supported by Valve(happy to see them giving the PS3 a REAL chance with Portal 2) and I really enjoyed TF2. With Left 4 Dead series, well I love that game so much I simply wanted both worlds at my fingertips.

If you really read what you typed, you basically sumed up the argument yourself(which there isn't any) The game on console is a completely different feel and atmosphere than the same game on PC. And as high and mighty as many FPS heads wanna claim, there is nothing wrong with it. Might as well call the same game, different. Shoot me a message if you'd like to discuss it further, man.

Being a past PS3 fanboy I've come to terms that online Xbox blows us out of the water. it may not have as solid of a fighting game community on non-western games, but the service and lag is superior.
See that is debatable. With XBL, servers are provided by Microsoft to meet a set level of standard. Servers will ALWAYS be an 8/10, no more, no less. Thats just the way it is, and its one of the primary reasons that XBL costs money.

With PSN, servers are not provided by Sony and there are no standards. So game publishers are required to provide and maintain their own servers; and with multiplatform games, these servers are usually anywhere between a 4/10 to 6/10. However, because there is no set standard, the servers have the opportunity to go far above and beyond what XBL offers. If you look at some PS3 exclusive games, the servers are pretty godlike, games like Warhawk, Resistance or Uncharted have servers that could easily be rated at 9/10, maybe even 10/10.
