Playstation sued some guy for installing Linux on his PS3, because you can pirate games on it. ILLEGAL. I dont care though.this will never happen. just look at the PSP, and how many time's that has been re-jail broken. it doesn't matter what Sony does, if people want something bad enough they WILL find a way to get it, and they wont give up until it stays; as a matter of fact fighting them on it only makes them more determined, more obsessed. that is why hackers will never fear Sony, or any other company in the world, thats just the way it is. even if anonymous wasn't behind the PSN attack, i still personally believe that they're supporting a good cause. even if its an inconvenience now, perhaps it will benefit gamers across the world a couple of years from now.
in fact when you buy the console you own that console, its not like you rented the console like you would say - a cable box, where when u want to switch providers or what not they come and pick up your cable box. technically so long as it doesn't involve illegal activity, you should be able to do whatever you want to it or on it. i can see how Sony perhaps would want to control piracy in this manner, but that too will continue to happen regardless. restricting things will pretty much just piss people off, especially the honest ones who never actually committed piracy in the 1st place. i don't see iPODs restricting their ability to play music just because of music piracy. i don't see computer companies ceasing to make hard drives just because illegal files CAN be stored on them, or google installing key logger programs on our computers to prevent us from searching up illegal materials. it would infringe on our individual rights and freedoms to do so.
its almost the same as say you buy a pair of pants. they're wonderful pants, and damn u look sharp in them. but they're 2 inches too long in the bottom so you have to get them hemmed. its like the fashion designer coming along and threatening you with lawsuit if you hem those pants simply because those pants themselves were crafted at that particular length, and he/she doesn't want that to change. sounds a little ridiculous, doesn't it?
