Anyway, [PROTOTYPE] is... freaking fun. I love the sandbox genre, and this game gets a lot of stuff right. The movement in this game is probably the most fun of any game I have played. There is really nothing like running up a building and rocketing off, gliding for a bit, air dashing and gliding some more...only to see a car and totally annihilate it when you crash to the ground.
The battles are some of the most epic i have had in a game. The difficulty spikes, that some see as a downfall, i actually welcome during some of the missions. Free roam makes you feel like a god! You can take out just about anyone and strike teams are nothing once you get a few upgrades. That being said, the missions get significantly more difficult as you go along, but it is refreshing (a little tense too) in a way... no one wants to easy mode a game to the end.
The biggest downfalls of this game would be the story and graphics. The story is a little cheesy to say the least, but the Web of Intrigue is very cool. I'm having fun piecing together the memories of my specific consumed targets. As for the voice acting, it sounds like Alex Mercer is always grunting his way through a shit while he is talking... a little over dramatic, but it adds to his badass-ness I suppose. The graphics are sub-par for "next gen" systems, but really I don't mind. There is so much going on, tanks, helos, monsters, zombies, marines, explosions, and no slow down at all. The cut-scenes are where the graphic shortcomings are most noticeable, but doesn't break the game in my opinion.
Sorry for the long post, but this game is truely fun and has caught a bad rap from some and been praised by others. I can personally say I love it, and a lot of time will go into flying around New York, buying all the upgrades/powers (there are a shit load), and destroying loads of infected hordes, military tanks and aircraft, and civilians alike. This game is badass and give it at least a rental if you haven't played it yet.
