The thing I'm wondering about is why anime discussion always ends up bashing (shonen) shit? Can't we talk about something we think is good instead of going on for like 5 posts for how we don't like something?

Mostly because anime discussion always turns to shounen shit in the first place.

Because making fun of shonen shit anime is so easy it's fun. Besides, I love being negative sometimes...or most of the time. But being positive isn't bad.

I can talk about Paranoia Agent instead and be happy, lol.

Why use fanservice as your main draw when your lead artist draws actual porn? This negates the need to look at your series for that value at all. You can just go and look at the lead artist's porn if you really want to see big anime tits and ass. Honestly, if it wasn't for the art styling mimicking that of a hentai artist, my argument wouldn't even exist, lol.

Working on a non-hentai series allows hentai artists to reach a broader audience than they would if they stuck to only making hentai. Naturally most artists who start out with hentai and want more mainstream exposure are going to work on ecchi (what you call fanservice) series because it is most similar to what they are used to doing.

Omamori Himari would be another example.

If it's not funny, they're is nothing more useless or distracting than fanservice/ecchi. See I like shonen because its action, fuck the story just give me whatever excuse to see some cool fight scenes. When anime tries to be serious, it better be all serious random ecchi shit should take a back seat. At that point I feel like the writers think I am stupid or something...don't distract me from the story man. If I want porn I have access.
