No more CGS... apparently...

This is not only a loss for the people who were in the CGS but for gaming as a whole on the International front.

I see this as a step back in legitimacy for gaming as a genuine past time. Hopefully the CAL will pick up the slack (somehow... I don't know how...) as they have just been purchased by a bigger company and will be aiming for more exposure over the next few months/years.

Friday, 14, November 2008 - Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and Dallas, Texas, USA - The newly formed CPL Holdings Group, LLC announced today that it has acquired the Cyberathlete Amateur League (CAL) in an all cash transaction that divests NewWorld.com, Inc. (former parent of CAL) and its shareholders from any interest in CAL.

The new management of CAL, will seek to increase its worldwide presence, enhance its infrastructure, and create a more interactive and fair environment for online game competitions. Participation in CAL will continue to be free of cost.

Ms. Angela Summers, a spokesperson for the CPL Holdings Group, LLC, said, "We are excited to have completed our first acquisition at the new CPL. We are also evaluating other media and gaming technology properties in Europe and Asia for either acquisition or partnership."

CAL was launched on March 6, 2001, when NewWorld.com, Inc., acquired the Domain of Games online league. Beginning with a single Counter-Strike division and 3,000 members, CAL has since grown to 16 game divisions and 300,000 registered members. Over the last 12 months, CAL has generated 17 million visits and 170 million page impressions.

CAL (www.caleague.com) was the world’s first online league to form periodic structured seasons, complete with pre-season, regular season and playoffs. In addition, CAL was the first online league to introduce integrated team predictions, roster locks, score tickers, draft leagues, and game ID locks.

Alright, smartass. Let's use your logic on this situation too then, shall we?

I will never be able to go professional in The National Football League or as you put it, I would be one that had "nooooooooo chance of getting in". If I suddenly found out they were going to disband the NFL for good, would I give a rat's ass? Hell no.

I don't need to get a "swirly in a dirty toilet" to know what I dislike. Here you are preaching about random hate to someone when you're a prime example of what you're preaching against. Heh..ya gotta love hypocrites.

I am smart. I also have an ass. I guess you must be right.

You are funny.
You also gave an example that was counterproductive to your argument.
Guess aren't a smartass.
Would that make you a dumbass?

Like I said, at the very end, saying "I don't give a rats ass" and "nothing of significance was lost" are really, really dumb arguments.

A man kills his family and himself, out in Canada. To us in the US, nothing of significance was lost.
China loses many to a landslide and flood. To us in the US, nothing of significance was lost.
The World Trade center goes down, killing thousands. To everyone but the US, nothing of significance was lost.

See where I'm going with this?
Significance is relative, which is why I was trying to relate a real life situation to my hypothetical example.
You're not smart enough to continue this argument with me.
Just give up, go check some other threads, or take some Omega3 to boost your cognitive faculties.

Oh, and this isn't random hate, nor is it hypocrisy. This is putting the internet in its place.

wow i guess you just told us then huh? such a smart mofo. put down the world of warcraft and close your D&D books!! and quit cryin!!
