Mass Effect 3!

So I finished the single player campaign a few days ago. My thoughts.

The ending was terrible and knocked a full two outta five stars off the game in my opinion. I hated hated hated that I was denied the opportunity to tell the star child that his logic was wrong when there were synthetics standing side by side with organics against his Reaper forces. I wanted to tell him that he was plainly wrong, that this cycle proved him wrong and that we could make our own path to a future of hope, without his "help". Without a genocide, without playing into his hands and without changing who we are. There was no need to force a change from with out, the change had already begun from with in. The introduction of this new character at the end felt cheap, it was done badly, I hated that the pushy bastard talks, rattles off it's insane logic and Shepard simply agrees with everything it says. I felt a final confrontation with Harbinger was demanded by the narrative, it never comes. The ending is completely ambiguous, vague and lends no closure. You never find out what happens to anyone or anyplace that you helped. If Shep lives you don't find out what happens to him and they hit you with a fucking advertisement to go buy DLC. What's worse it destroys the mass effect universe or forces the next game to be hundreds if not thousands of years later. That was a needless waste of a good setting. The best ending, the one 90% of gamers would have made cannon and I know most of us wanted to go with would have been to tell him "take your shit and go.".

Other concerns, so the entire galactic military is stuck in the sol system? And didn't the arrival tell us destroying a mass relay would take out a solar system? What kind of ending is that, and why would joker and the crew of the Normandy abandon me? What did I gather war resources for? I was expecting a mass effect 2 style pay out where my various acquisitions souls be called into play during points of the battle. As it was we don't even hear from half the races I gathered. And speaking of mass effect 2 , utterly lame not letting me bring any of my buddies from it along as squad mates. Yeah anyone can die from that game but that includes Garrus and Tali. Allowing me use of Samara or Miranda when they can't be in someone eles's game would have made each world all the more unique. All told Bioware dropped the ball here in a big way.

I though everyone on the Internet was doing the typical groupthink over reaction thing. Now I see however much to my disappointment that they were not. This ending is a terrible, horrible cop out on biowares part and has retroactively tarnished my opinion of the entire series. I don't even wanna play my Alts now if all that's waiting for them is that bleak, ambiguous, forced, new agey shit. Movie coming out? If its part of a trilogy that ends like that piece of shit, I couldn't care less. You had a great little property and you maniacs blew it up, god damn you Bioware, god damn you all to hell.

All in all I have to say, Mass Effect 2 is the far superior game.

Wow, you people are still bitching about the ending?

ME3 gets 11/10 from me. Best game ever.

OK, here are my thoughts about the ME3 ending.

That thing with the mighty force appearing as the little boy who was killed was way to much. It´s not the appearance, since that makes sence since it was a familiar face for Shepard, but the fact that there is another force in the ME-universe which is even more powerful than the reapers... Like a God controlling everything. I don´t like that...

And where were all the choices i did before... Why are the paths already set? ME ia about changing the future, about making YOUR OWN! universe! At least to a certain degree...

And Shepard is not indoctrinated ... Only for a few seconds when the illsuive man forces him to shoot Anderson.
ME2 remains my favorite ME for the following reasons:
More chars in the team, cooler settings (Omega space station, Dead reaper ship! Etc.) and especially the better OST (Soundtrack!). This is also due to the two most brilliant DLC ME2 had (Project Overlord and Shadow Broker). So awesome ...
And I hate some things in ME3 ... How many chars die there, although it was nothing like the ME2 "suicide mission" and then in the ME3 they just die and you can do nothing...

Of course it´s a war driven scenario, and in war you can´t save everyone, but still...

MP is nice but will probably bleed out after a short time without any updates ( level 20 lock, no!)
Oh, and I can not stand this James Vega! What the hell is this ... And I thought, the worst char was Grunt in the whole ME history, but he's still completely likable! in comparison!

And when you meet Jack she just wants sex, I've tried it in ME2 to make it clear to her that sex is not the answer for her problems! I can´t understand that...And why do you have to buy the Prothean ... Oh well.

Damn ...
Apart from that i think I've understood it completely.

But in the end is ME2 the superior game.

To summarize: 7 out of 10
