King Of Fighters Thread

To told myself I was going to learn this game and I am. I rented it today from my job to try it out. I'm maining Leona and Iori definitely. My third is a toss up between Elizabeth or Mature. Not sure who to pick.

Anyway, I'm a complete newb when it comes to playing KoF so I have no clue how the buttons are configured on a stick.

It's 4 buttons so I assume the notations are A, B, C, and D?

A = Light Punch
B = Hard Punch
C = Light Kick
D = Hard Kick

or is it

A = Light Punch
B = Light Kick
C = Hard Punch
D = Hard Kick

Lastly, what would the layout be on a stick?

BCD
Axx

or

ABC
Dxx

EDIT: Nevermind, figured it out, lol.
 
I just played this too. Early impressions are that it's really slow, but thankfully I've seen people play this at a higher level and I've seen how fast and aggressive it CAN play. Doing that right off the bat like you would with a BlazBlue definitely isn't happening though. The few links I did figure out didn't have strict SF4 style timing, but special move and super inputs seemed to be more strict.

The game doesn't look as sharp as BB, but the animations are so smooth and have a real cool factor about them. Ash's walking away animation cements him as a total douchebag lol, and throwing sonic booms from his pocket? Ralf/Clark's vulcan punch looks awesome, and I love how they're so much bigger than the other characters too. Chin's little drunken staggers are funny, when you do start to figure out combos they flow together really smoothly (Kyo's shoulder into super for one) and the whole game just animates much smoother than BlazBlue, albeit with less overall clarity and flash.

I'm gonna gamefly this for sure, if I had money to be spending on games I'd probably pick it up, but I don't. I hear the online is total shit, but it's already patched on the triple and it's coming soon for 360. But yeah it's probably gonna feel really slow at first. Stick with it and figure it out a little, I'd say.

lol... that's so true... sf4 was pretty disappointing... i sold it to get kofxii...

i'm still waiting for it... and all the negativity about it is just stupid... yes casual gamers want extra crap and online... but die hard fans like me appreciate the work they put into it...

so i'm just fine with offline play... i just wanna know who in Toronto is getting it?
 
the gameplay itself is really solid but people are nitpicking the game to death because of online play that hasn't been patch, lack of characters (I think 22 is perfectly fine lol), lack of single player modes, etc
