Is it viable to use a fightstick for this game to reach higher levels of play?

Hello :) This is my first post so hopefully I'm not breaking any rules already. Anyways, being a long time casual player, I've been looking to get better and possibly participate in some tournaments (eventually :P). In the past year I picked up a fightstick which noticeably improved my technique, execution, and skill level in MVC3. MVC3 however, is a very input heavy game, whilst soul calibur is based more on reflex and prediction. This makes me wonder whether or not I should attempt to use my fight stick or continue playing with my controller. Thanks :sc5vio1: < can't wait

It's hugely open to personal opinion, really.

SCV doesn't seem to have the amount of manipulation required by games like MvC3/KoF13/etc. You're not generally going to be need to be able 632146/236/623/etc or do a long series of piano keys/plinks/etc.

That being said, I hate playing claw (using your fingers on the PS/Xbox pad instead of your thumb) and I despise button mapping. For the buttons alone I will always prefer an arcade stick.

I sort of think button mapping should be removed from the existence of ever. :(
.... but that's my jaded and distorted opinion of reality, of course.
