Is English Your Native Language?

[Quinion]

American English, though from an historically and grotesquely illiterate state (google "2004 election slave owning states" to illuminate the subject if you are not familiar with red states in teh US. Live in upstate NY now).

Know enough Russian from college to read it/speak it phonetically....enough to say that I cannot speak Russian (in Russian).

My honest opinion, the English they speak over in the UK is better than what some Americans speak, just because you hardly hear a British person use slang terms like most of us do. That and they tend to be more formal. (Or maybe they make you believe that.)

I speak English. Was pretty good with Spanish when I was still in school and had exchange students to talk to, but I've forgotten a lot.

My wife speaks Chinese and ESL.

Spanish here. I can't speak or understand spoken english, but I can someway manage with written english, even if I make some grammar and/or spelling mistakes :p
