1. it was 1999/2000.. I was at uni and one of my flatmates had a modded Dreamcast - with the Japanese release of SoulCalibur. We'd never seen anything like it before and man did we rinse that game sooo much. News spread fast and we soon had sporting rivalry with other Uni halls.. those were the days! This continued on with SC2.
2. I always knew about the site but after uni I got on with real life for a bit. Missed SC3 completely and with SC4 I had no real local rivalry and the on-line was poor. When I found out about SC5 I came back here and eventually signed up - great on-line, met up with my old buddies on XBL.. just like old times!
3, Yes.. following relatively closely. Trying to be competitive as I can be (I always start singing the Pokemon song in my head when I think competitive.. 'I wanna be.. the very best..') :P
4. Yes.. watch it as and when, usually catch the archived footage.
5. At the moment yes. I am interested in the idea of other fighting games but SC takes enough time/effort without having to worry about another game as well. I have KoF, MK9 and AE but they've all taken a back seat to SC and I can't see that changing any time soon.
6. I'm currently using a Hori stick. To be honest, SC5 is the first game i've ever played with a stick.. i've not even tried a pad on this game yet. That said, I play Yoshi mainly, I can't see myself going back to pad now, esp considering they made some of his moves harder to do..
7. Mechanics wise yes, although am anxiously waiting to see if there is going to be one final balance patch (to rule them all). Few gripes - reduced move lists, fluidity of characters (man, Seung Mina SC1 felt incredibly fluid to play at the time) & depth of story.
8. Personally I don't want to see a Super SCV, just an absolutely amazin SCVI. learn from the mistakes of previous games, bring the good points of each, add a large helping of depth and i'll be happy.
9. Has to be Lolo :0
