interesting documentary on US right wing

I read an article on this. I think the first two minutes are in there as an attention grabber. Nancy Pelosi's daughter (who's a professional filmmaker in her own right) was the one who did this. She said she tried to keep as much of a balance as possible, fully aware of the accusations that would be flung her way being who she was. In fact, one time a speaker pointed her out at a rally: "That's Nancy Pelosi's daughter." (he did not say, "Git'r!) There was also one time that somebody she was interviewing said, "Obama is a secret extremist Muslim etc, etc," and she said "are you sure you wanna say that? People are gonna accuse me of going for the loon and his reply was that he didn't have a problem with that.

Anyway, I think you should watch the whole thing before judging it. I haven't yet, but that's because I've still got tons of homework to do.

It's just like that south park episode with people going crazy over the results.

We'd have the exact kind of 'documentary' from the left 'point of view' if McCain won.

This is why I stopped watching TV and now choose my outlets for media wisely.

wtf, thats exactly the same Idea I had. I watched TV for the first time last night(in a while) because I was at a freinds house and he had it on. Not watching tv = time for other things(games, women, school, etc.

But Im going to watch this because I want to be horrified.

So I watched after the first two minutes, which I have to give credit for not being as lame as the opening. I don't really understand why people think documentaries have to go for the cheese to grab people's attentions. If you want to have an objective piece, you shouldn't have to go for something so tasteless.

I'd have to say, it was sort of interesting, though of the same sort that one might have gone to a freak show in the past. I didn't really learn anything, as I would think that its old news to informed people that people are disappointed when their candidate loses, there are racists in the south and there are fat teenagers that don't know what socialism means.

I guess my main issue is, I shouldn't watch something that's meant to inform me and have to ask the question "So What?" You had a lot of different people, and some of them had legitimate complaints. What was the point of showing these people next to a bunch of other loonies? As a documentary, I think it fails in this aspect since the majority of the audience does not have very good critical thinking skills and is watching this like it is a freak show. All in all, I'd probably have spent that hour doing something else if I knew it was going to be this pointless.

in retrospect i should have clarified my position. i live in canada. the view i have of the united states is what is seen on your media, and although i always realized that the media cleans it up a bit for foreign consumption i had no idea how much.

your right wing political party reminds me a lot of christian religion that seems to fuel it. both organizations contain a vocal population of extreme individuals who (at least in my opinion) are destructive to their organizations.

the US "bible belt" actually has billboards promoting religion??!!?? something like that would be unthinkable here in canada. US churches clearly violate the law and support political parties, an action they are forbidden from if they wish to maintain a charitable status.

but what really got me wasn't that some racist or homophobic person would say something at a conservative rally, what i was shocked by was that the other people around them didn't appear to be outraged. radical regressive conservatism is poisoning your county.

alex pelosi (the filmmaker) commented in many interviews about her work that the USA is really two countries trying to coexist, the ultra conservative prejudiced south, and the more rational (at least from my perspective) north.

alex pelosi (the filmmaker) previously made several award winning documentaries including one following the bush campaign in 2000 which was considered extremely favorable to the right wing parties.

From what I've seen, this seems to have been made more for the sake of humor than to insult or bash republicans, as evident by showing people that were actually in the right mind. It's mostly about how crazy people can get about about their favorite candidate, regardless of who it is. Keep in mind that the crazies only make up a fraction of a percent of McCain supporters. That's all I have to say in response. Glad it wasn't one of those 9/11 conspiracy vids.
