Obviously Cloud is better than Squall, since Squall's game sucked and he was a fag. I voted for Sephiroth, but obviously Algol would win, if he weren't banned.

Cloud's a fag. Advent Children and Crisis Core proved it...

and if you actually paid attention to FFVII you'd realize that Cloud was still a fag during that too and didn't come out of the metaphorical closet til half way through the game and then totally became a useless vegetable.

Seriously now, Cloud sucks.

Its as easy as that with these opinions. I won't bother asking why you didn't like Squall...but I find his inner monologues and unvoiced opinions alot more entertaining than Cloud's fake cool guy persona til he totally collapses under his own weight of undeniable fail.

Gunblade > stupidly large sword that the little whiney bitch could barely drag in Crisis Core.

I RE-HEEEAAALLY didn't like Zidane at the start of IX but the more I got into the game the more and more I liked him.

Generally I'm not fond of any of the characters until learning their back stories.

The great thing about VIII was that they were all neatly linked together. Their development wasn't particularly substantial - at least from what I can hazily remember - but their severely different personalities were all pretty enjoyable. Edea was a great character in my opinion, really felt for her.

I do really like the characters of VII too ; Barret and XIII specifically. So I don't just out and out hate it. Although Cait Sith may as well not exist in my opinion; same goes for Tifa too - big boobs are great, but yeah...that's all she is unfortunately...and as stated before I found Cloud a chore.

IX had some really interesting characters. Vivi, Freya. Even that tool Steiner was good for some amusement....though I felt Garnet was stupidly dry and dull.

Holy Jesus in a crap pile, someone actually liked FFVIII (for the very reasons you have mentioned) that isn't me?

PS-I have to disagree with the Steiner comment though...his stupid allegiance and faith that he kept yammering on about, and even when CLEARLY he was proven wrong, he continued on (and not commendably either, annoyingly yes). Made me want to puke on various occasions.
