Howdy There!

Hello fellow Soul Calibur enthusiasts! I have been using the site for a while for frame data, tech traps, frame traps, and more- but I thought it would be nice to get to know the community for SC5. I have been using the xbox controller for SC4 for the last 2 years, but it seems that the stick is not precise enough to step as fast as I would like. Now I know I could use the d-pad, but it is virtually impossible to input Ivy's/Asta's grabs on it- for me at least.

Should I get a transformer Xbox controller? A TE stick? or is it really possible to effectively switch between the d-pad and the stick in the middle of a fight?

It's nice to see you've been checking the site out for our frame data, tech traps and frame traps! Be sure to also check out our tech data, trap traps and oh shit I'm confused now... But seriously, it's good to see people using the resources and nice to meet you man. In a manner of speaking.

Ah yeah, stick vs pad the eternal question. I've said it before though and I'll say it again in all seriousness, so here goes: There are respected players who use either one so really just use whatever feels best to you. If you wanna try a stick out and you like it a lot, then more power to you. But unlike some other games I don't really feel like a stick is tournament standard issue for soul calibur. I play on a 360 pad myself and I know it's limitations. I've been looking for better D-pads and having a lot of trouble finding anyone who's actually made improvements. I've yet to try the transforming controller, but in my opinion it shares the regular pad's critical flaw of pivoting on a divot. But it's like the bible says, test all things and hold onto what's true. If you wanna try it out be my guest. Better to find the controller that's right for you sooner than later right?

-Give my warmest regards to Ash and Misty.

Hey it looks like John knows some Pokemon. Pocky Yoshi likes. Anyways, Pocky Yoshi says hello and is pleased to meet you......have you scored with an officer Jenny or a Nurse Joy? Do tell Brock.

So you solely use the d-pad for directional inputs then? Or do you switch between the stick and pad?

Ahhaha, well I'll be damned if I haven't heard that one before btw ;) . I've decided Joy is too much of a let-down so I've settled for Misty(Misty and Ash would never work anyway).

I use the d-pad and the d-pad alone. But I play Cassie and Taki. I don't have any of the crazy inputs you Ivy players have to put up with.
