How to reduce visual lag offline?

I'm beginning to suspect my set up has a tiny bit of lag, not much but enough to cause me to miss blocks i should have and especially GI's/JFs.

I'm using a LCD computer monitor with a known 5ms delay and running through HDMI to DMI cables. HDMI is the best for speed right? Can someone shed some light on best hardware to aim for and how bad the 5ms is gonna hurt me? I will eventually own a real HD TV, but for now...

use CRT, theres no other way. Some LCD have less lag than other but it still makes a lot of difference no matter what. it doesnt matter if its hdmi or not.

5ms isn't going to do anything to your response time. The only thing that tends to introduce lag is processing effects from the TV, but it's unlikely a monitor would have those kinds of features.

You can try buying a CRT, but I guarantee you won't notice a difference.

I don't know what kind of lag (if any) it causes (I seriously doubt it causes any), but most lcds do have various color profiles/modes on them. So, try turning off any such settings that your monitor has and see if it makes any difference.

But, realistically, 5ms is far less than a single frame (16.6ms).

I myself have my xbox hooked up to a nice CRT monitor and its great :)
