New to 8way and the last soul I played was soul edge on ps1, so I'm an utter noob.
I'm really enjoying scv so far and I'm looking to get good so any helps appreciated, I'm not sure who I'll main yet.
So yeah, I look forward to playing with some of you
 
Welcome my friend! Well, you are lucky, since Soul Calibur 5 is pretty easy to pick up since is less complex than any other Soul but Soul Calibur 1. And... I recently bought the Soul Calibur 5 guide from Amazon and I think it will be very helpful to you too if you have the chance to buy it. Its a pretty good guide even for pros :D
 
I know its bad, I don't know why never played any of the others.
I touched 4 and hated it for some reason.
I love the game it's the only game I play but I get destroyed online, good people always seem to be able to pull off an attack before so I can never start combos and they just block everything else.
Something do with frames and that I think?

Dont worry... I think it can be something similar to what happened to me when started playing Tekken 6 (for serious) some months ago: everyone got used to the moves of all the old players, specially characters like Sigfried or Mitsurugi that have some moves since Soul Edge. In Tekken, my rivals can simply make a basic combo and I will fall for it cause I see them for the first time, and when I think I will fool someone with some classy cancel that I learned, they already dealed with it in the past like 1000 times so I dont surprise them.

Once you get used to the moves of all the characters as rivals, it will become much easier. I personally try to play with every character just so I can understand how they play and to train my eye so I can recognize the start of a move or something, but of course its not that hard if I have played all the other SC's.
