Hate Speech: Throw-Tier Heroes

This post is so great. I wish I could link directly to it from XBL.

I really could not understand why people would insist on demanding that I not throw them if they demonstrated an obvious inability to avoid being thrown. It's like saying, "I know we're in a fight, but I am weak in the jaw, so don't punch me there please. If you do it, you're an asshole." @_@

But Hates makes some good points about why throws evoke such a visceral feeling of being cheated in many people. While this understanding brings sympathy though, it shall not bring clemency. >:D

Good read Hates.

Grabs in 2D games are predicted to, not reacted to. In 2D games, command throws are unbreakable, you have to jump, that's the mixup grapple type characters such as Tager have.
Tager is ass because good runaway = ggs.
While you are generally correct about command grabs being untechable in 2d fighters, your example Tager is actually the rare exception to that. You can tech out of his command grabs under certain circumstances.

I always remember SCII when I think of throws. It is actually hilarious how poorly the AI in that game responded to throws.

Probably because of that, I used to try throwing too much. Now I'm much more aware of when it's appropriate to throw.

You know the best thing in the world? When you're opponent does a late grab break and you just fuckin' grab them again. It's even better when you do the same type of grab and it works...better yet...when they break it and you run up and launch their ass for CH because they're so afraid of the grab. =D
