Let's first put things in perspective. The 1.02 patch to SCV was only 5MB. We're not talking about some patch that was over 100MB that change the core of the game or added characters like with the update to AE. The patch is only major in its implications competitively.
Like I said before, SC4 was updated to 1.03, so I don't understand why people think this is going to be the last patch ever for this game. This is what I was referring to when I said that times were different. Namco wouldn't be putting the support that is has and doing things for the community just to not patch this game after 1.02.
I also don't understand the tears that are coming from people. This isn't SC4 where half the cast couldn't be used.
As for paying for an update, I don't know why people are apprehensive over paying for an update to a fighting game outside of expecting this game to be an RPG. I would have gladly pay for one for SC4 instead of having to spend 3 years trying to keep a dead game alive. Fighting games are supposed to be updated periodically. Plus developers don't work for free and publishers are in the business of making money. Even patches cost money with the work and QA that goes into making one and deploying it. I'll gladly take whatever free updates come out, but I have no problem with paying for one down the road, especially if it adds things that people want like characters, or something that I want back which is to put the button config back at the character select screen.
