Hate Speech: A Seasonal Feast

Well, since my own article is finally up on SRK, I can finally post this reply that I've been meaning to post for awhile now.

Now while the stuff that Hates talks about is important, a bigger factor to SCII being seen as a legit game is the fact that people loved and played it. the community and the choice of playing a certain game is, for better or worse, a bigger factor towards a game's "legitimacy."

If only "articles" would stay on SRK front page for more than 5 minutes you wouldn't have to plug it on other websites

Now while the stuff that Hates talks about is important, a bigger factor to SCII being seen as a legit game is the fact that people loved and played it. the community and the choice of playing a certain game is, for better or worse, a bigger factor towards a game's "legitimacy."

The biggest factor is that most people who today claim it was the best entry in the series weren't even around when the game was in its heyday. Many very good players didn't even like SC2 all that much, judging from how much they ranted about, well, a lot of the stuff Hates listed here. Even when SC2 was at peak popularity, it was still seen as the redheaded stepchild of the Namco fighting game franchises. And this was when Tekken 4, which almost everyone hated, was the "big" Namco game.
